About the Role

The Watsan Technician in MSF Hospital works under the Watsan (Environmental Health) Supervisor to whom he directly reports. Main Responsibilities • Carrying out tasks directly related to the Watsan activities such as repair and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to MSF protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control. • Ensuring, with Watsan agent team, the cleaning and maintenance of the Watsan structures • Informing the Watsan Supervisor of any difficulties, anomalies and problems that may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area of responsibility; • Assisting the Watsan Supervisor in Watsan data collection and reporting, as well as maintaining updated files and records of assigned project activities • Being responsible for equipment, tools, and consumables, verifying that they are safely used and maintained. Reporting to the supervisor any need of renewal and the weekly/monthly consumption Water supply Support in maintenance and improvement of the water supply systems in MSF Hangha Hospital, MSF premises and government health facilities that are supported by MSF. May include borehole, handpump, dug well, solar pump, water tower, gravity -flow pipeline, stream intake, water treatment by chlorination, etc. • Sanitation & wastewater: Support in maintenance and improvement of the Sanitation & wastewater systems in MSF Hangha Hospital, MSF premises and government health facilities that are supported by MSF. May include wastewater pipeline, septic tank, grease trap soaks away pit, etc. • Waste management: Support in maintenance and improvement of the Waste management systems in MSF Hangha Hospital, MSF premises and government health facilities that are supported by MSF. May include incinerator, waste pits, glass crusher, safety box reducer, etc. Maintenance and repair of waste management infrastructure in PHUs/ CHC supported by MSF. • Vector control: Implement measures to control vectors (mosquitos, flies, rats, etc.) including infrastructure and insecticide spraying. • IPC: MSF does not charge fees for receiving any applications or participating in any recruitment process Give technical support and guidance to hygienists on cleaning & disinfection techniques I health facilities, especially during times of disease outbreak. Distribution of monthly items to supported PHUs /CHCs. • Stock management: Monitor consumption of stock and inform the EH supervisor in advance to avoid rupture. Update of stock card and technical participation to in periodical updating of EH/Watsan inventory. • Other activities. Participate in mobile clinic activities. Participation in meetings and represent the supervisor upon request. Regular visit to PHUs/CHC for eventual need and report to the supervisor. Taking care that all watsan activities are safely done by the daily workers (appropriate personal protection equipment, safe and clean environment, be aware of different risks, etc.) • Other tasks requested by the manager
